Organic Skincare Review: Badger Damascus Rose Beauty Balm
I first came across Badger in my favorite local hippie aisle, and while I generally thought of them as a much beloved sunscreen company, I was always curious about this little pink jar. However, I had so many other smellier, greasier crises to attend to that I continued to pass this one up. Fast forward a few twitter conversations, and the lovely folks at Badger sent me the Damascus Rose Beauty Balm to try. They could not have sent it at a better time.

Remember that horrible plague cold that was going around in December? Well, I was one of its unlucky winners and it left my nose raw while the cold winds and dry indoor heat left my skin horribly dry. On Christmas Eve, I had plans to venture out into the cold snow and wind for an evening at Longwood Gardens. I decided to use my new balm as a barrier between my skin and the cold. It worked like a charm! Not only did it heal my red nose, it kept my skin protected on a cold snowy night. I’ve been hooked ever since.
Matt: “You’re face smells really really good.”
Beyond its addictive rose scent, this balm has a million and one uses. I use it at night as a hydrating balm for my face or as an under eye treatment. In fact, its oil rich base makes it perfect for under eyes because it won’t cause the plumping or puffiness that some creams can. I use it on my elbows, my hands, my cuticles. I even use this under my makeup. With enough time to soak in, it makes a great makeup primer for dry skin. But I will warn you, if you don’t exfoliate regularly, using this as a primer may not work for you. Instead, try a gentle scrub or exfoliating enzyme mask and follow it up with this as a night treatment 1-2 times a week. I promise you’ll wake up with noticeably softer skin.
I can honestly say I won’t ever suffer another Winter without this magic jar and I find myself recommending it all the time. At such a great price, ($14), what’s not to love? You can read the complete ingredients list and purchase some for yourself here.
